How we use Reddit data
Last updated: October 2026
Many indie developers share their games on Reddit and want to know which of their own posts actually lead to Steam wishlists. This page explains exactly how NextWishlist handles Reddit data.
Today
NextWishlist does not access Reddit data through the API and does not scrape Reddit. We only count clicks on tracked links that developers choose to include in their own posts (on our domain). No Reddit content is collected.
If Reddit approves our API access
With Reddit's written approval and each user's explicit OAuth authorization (scopes identity and history, read-only), we would read only the authorizing user's own submissions and comments, and these basic metrics: title, subreddit, date, permalink, score, upvote ratio, number of comments, removal status.
- Shown only to that user, in a private dashboard and daily report.
- Never displayed publicly, shared with other users, aggregated across users, sold, or used for advertising.
- Never used to train AI or machine-learning models.
- We never post, comment, vote or message on Reddit.
- Low volume: a few calls per user per day, within Reddit's rate limits, with a descriptive User-Agent.
- Deletion: data is deleted when the user disconnects Reddit or deletes their account, and posts deleted on Reddit are purged.
